Pain Research: Assistant/Associate Tenure Track Position

The Pittsburgh Center for Pain Research at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School has emerged as one of the top groups attacking the #1 public health problem in the US – intractable chronic pain. We also study the equally vexing problems of persistent itch and the epidemic of opioid abuse sweeping the nation. We are a highly collaborative group of world-class investigators that are driven to find cures.

Successful applicants will be affiliated with the Pittsburgh Center for Pain Research, now in its second decade, as well as a growing list of centers of excellence, including Pittsburgh Sensory Neuroscience, University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute, and the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have demonstrated excellence in research. Areas of research may include, but are not limited to, basic and/or translational research focused on the molecular and cellular changes that contribute to the development of chronic pain, analysis of CNS pain circuits, human imaging studies, pain genetics, and fundamental processes underlying pain, itch or touch. Appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate level, commensurate with qualifications. Salary is competitive. The successful applicant will be expected to obtain extramural funding, establish a competitive research program and participate in graduate education.
