ALS Tissue Bank

Our ALS Tissue Bank is among the largest in the United States. This bank enables us to store and conduct basic research with donated tissue samples from ALS patients who have been seen in our multi-disciplinary clinic, led by David Lacomis, M.D. Careful examination of this brain, muscle and spinal cord tissue provides investigators with important neurological and neurochemical information about the disease.  Because only a few ALS tissue banks currently exist in the United States, we share these scarce and vital resources with our colleagues at other institutions. By donating tissue, you can make an invaluable contribution to research into ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. If you are interested in tissue donation, it is important to make your wishes known to family members and contact us as early as possible.
